Water Reservoir Tank Repairs

Following damage to the Frogley tank roof caused by a fallen tree, our team provided a temporary repair solution, enabling the client to bring the tank back online without a full roof replacement. A timber framework was designed to secure the damaged roof, and a patch repair was completed as a temporary solution. Additionally, a scaffold system was installed around half to three-quarters of the tank, including a staircase for safe access to the work area.

Project Highlights

  • Safer work environment for operational team to deliver scopes.

  • Client satisfaction with outcomes.

  • Provide an engineering solution that complimented the existing infrastructure and any loss of integrity it may have endured.

  • Handed back a tank that was structurally sound and able to provide clean drinking water.

Services Provided

  • Designed a timber framework to secure the damaged roof.

  • Safely remove debris and remaining roof sections.

  • Collaboration with our client to develop a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the rectification works, providing expert advice and recommendations on the best approach to address the issues within budget and time constraints.

  • Implementation of safety measures by cordoning off the affected areas to prevent public access during the works.

  • Carrying out the necessary resurfacing and repairs to the carpark and other high-traffic areas, ensuring a safe and functional environment for the public until the larger capital project is completed.

Challenges

  • Restricted entry points for transporting materials.

  • Exposed live edges on the damaged roof.

  • Managing the risk of compromised trees and branches that could fall with high winds.

Outcome

The tank was successfully repaired using a temporary timber structure and roof sheeting, allowing the tank to be brought back online, ensuring a continued water supply to the surrounding areas. Although deemed to be a temporary repair we ensured that handrail and safety systems complied with Australian Safety Standards.
